    EXIF Remover: Complete Privacy Guide

Every photo you take contains hidden data—camera settings, timestamps, GPS coordinates, and more. This metadata can reveal where you live, work, and travel. Our tool lets you view, inspect, and remove this information before sharing files online.

Privacy Alert: A single photo can contain your exact GPS coordinates, accurate to within a few meters. Social media may strip some metadata, but email, messaging apps, and direct sharing typically preserve it all.

    What is EXIF Data?

EXIF (Exchangeable Image File Format) is a standard for storing metadata in image files. It was designed to help photographers track camera settings, but has grown to include much more:

    Technical Data

    • Camera make and model
    • Lens information
    • Shutter speed, aperture, ISO
    • Flash settings
    • Image dimensions and orientation

    Privacy-Sensitive Data

    • GPS coordinates (latitude, longitude, altitude)
    • Date and time of capture
    • Device serial numbers
    • Software used for editing
    • Thumbnail previews (may show original crop)
Important: Even if you crop or edit a photo, the original thumbnail in EXIF data may still show the uncropped version. Always remove metadata before sharing sensitive images.

    Why Remove Metadata?

    Risk What Could Happen
Location tracking Photos reveal your home address, workplace, vacation spots
Stalking/harassment Bad actors can track your movements through photo timestamps and locations
Device identification Serial numbers can link anonymous photos back to you
Legal exposure Metadata can be used as evidence showing when/where photos were taken

JPEG, PNG, WebP, HEIC/HEIF, GIF, AVIF

    Your Privacy is Guaranteed

This tool processes everything locally in your browser:

    • No uploads — Files never leave your device
    • No servers — All processing uses local WebAssembly
    • No tracking — We can't see what files you process
    • No accounts — Just open and use, nothing to sign up for

Ironically, a privacy tool that uploads your files would defeat its own purpose. That's why we built this to run entirely in your browser.
